In 2021 Heritage Auctions alone realized more than $350 million in the category of rare coin and currency sales. One collection alone, the Paramount Collection, brought in $41.94 at auction.

An 1861 Paquet Double Eagle MS67, one of only two known examples sold for $7,200,000 on August 18, 2021 at Heritage.
A 1794 Flowing Hair Silver Dollar MS66+ sold for $6.600.000 on August 18, 2021 as well at a Heritage Auction.
An 1804 Plain 4 Eagle PR65+ Deep Cameo extremely rare early gold proof sold for $5,280,000 on January 20, 2021 at Heritage.
Other gold coins sold by Heritage Auctions in 2021 for eye-watering prices was a 1907 Ultra High Relief Double Gold Eagle PR68 which sold for $3,600,000 on February 24, 2021 and an 1854-S Liberty Half Eagle XF45 that was recently discovered and sold for $2,400,000 on August 18, 2021.
World coins sold by Heritage Auction also made history including one which set a world record as the most expensive British coin ever sold at public auction. On March 26, 2021, an Edward VIII gold Proof Pattern 5 Pounds 1937 PR67 Ultra Cameo sold for $2,280,000.
On June 8, 2021, in an auction at Sotheby’s a 1933 Saint-Gaudens double eagle $20 gold coin sold for $18,872,250, a new world record for the highest price paid for any coin.
Recently, apparently in 2022, the second highest price ever paid for a coin occurred in a private transaction for a Flowing Hair Dollar, reportedly believed to be the first silver dollar struck by the United States, with a grade of SP66. Price paid – $12,000,000. The purchaser was the auction house, Great Collections.
An 1804 Silver Dollar PR68 was sold at a Stacks Bowers auction in August 2021 for $7,680,000.
And finally, an 1822 Half Eagle $5 gold coin was sold on March 25, 2021 for $8.4 million.

Detective Comics #27 with Batman on the cover sold for $1,125,000 on September 8, 2021 but that price was substantially topped on January 14, 2021 with the sale of Batman #1 which went for $2,220,000.

Video Games Sold in 2021 Many Wish They Had Played Or Held Onto Their Video Games
On July 11, 2021 Heritage Auctions shattered a world record for a video game sale, when an auction on July 11, 2021 sold a spectacular copy of Super Mario 64 for $1.56 million.
That record obliterated the previous world record set just two days prior when Heritage sold a copy of The Legend of Zelda for $870,000.
